Details

Hawthorne is one of Portland's classic east-side commercial streets, a long run of bookshops, vintage stores, cafes, pubs, theaters and restaurants stretching from the river toward Mount Tabor. The busiest stretch, roughly SE 30th to 40th, has steady foot traffic through the evening and a young, bohemian crowd. The surrounding blocks are residential and quiet. Eating or drinking alone is easy. As elsewhere in the city, lock bikes, leave nothing in cars and use a ride after late events. Buses along Hawthorne connect to Downtown, and the Eastside Streetcar and Division and Belmont streets are nearby.
