Details

The Northwest District, often called Nob Hill, is one of Portland's most walkable and traditional areas. It has Victorian houses, tree-lined streets and a near-continuous run of shops, cafes and restaurants along NW 21st and NW 23rd Avenues. Locals and visitors fill the avenues from morning until evening, and the foot traffic and lighting keep evenings comfortable. Washington Park, the International Rose Test Garden and Forest Park trailheads are close. Cafes and restaurants are used to people eating alone with a book. Side streets are quiet, so stick to the main avenues late at night and avoid trails and park paths after dark.
