Details

Pacific Heights is where San Francisco's serious money lives. We're talking massive Victorian mansions that cost more than most people will see in a lifetime. It's incredibly safe because, well, rich people pay for security and the city makes sure nothing bad happens here. The downside is it's pretty quiet and residential - great if you want to gawk at beautiful architecture, but there's not much happening at night. Fillmore Street has some good restaurants and shops, but everything is expensive. The views from the hills are stunning if you don't mind the workout to get up there. Locals tend to keep to themselves and it can feel a bit exclusive. Perfect if you want maximum safety and don't mind paying premium prices for a very quiet, upscale experience.
