Details

The Railyard is Santa Fe's most modern district, built around the old rail depot. It has a park, a cinema, a farmers' market on Saturdays and Tuesdays, contemporary art spaces, and a good run of restaurants and breweries. Guadalupe Street runs along its eastern edge and connects it to the Plaza in a ten-minute walk. Evenings are livelier than at the Plaza, with live music, beer gardens and patios, and the area is generally comfortable for a woman alone. The main caution is the rail trail and the stretch along the tracks, which are poorly lit and empty at night and have a history of muggings, so use the main streets instead. Some people experiencing homelessness spend time in and around the park and near a nearby shelter. They are usually peaceful, but stay aware of your surroundings after dark.
