Details

Hai Chau is Da Nang's administrative and business center - local life away from the tourist beach scene. Government buildings, local markets like Han Market, Vietnamese restaurants with Central Vietnamese food instead of Western options. Bach Dang riverside along the Han River has upscale restaurants, cafes, and bars open late. After 7pm, cars get blocked from parts of Bach Dang Street, makes evening walks easier. Dragon Bridge lights up at night, weekends bring crowds for the fire-and-water show. This area feels more Vietnamese than tourist-oriented - fewer English speakers, more authentic food, cheaper prices. Solo dining works in the modern cafes along the river, but you'll stand out more as a foreigner than in An Thuong. Safe during the day with regular police patrols. Some side streets get dark at night - use Grab after dark instead of walking.
