Hoi An, Vietnam
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Hoi An.
Beach town vibe with beach bars and cafes, popular with expats. Safe and social during the day, quiet at night. Good for daytime visits, 15 minutes by bike from the Ancient Town.
About 5km north of the Ancient Town, An Bang Beach has a different vibe - less heritage site, more beach town. The water isn't crystal clear but it's calm, and the real draw is the line of beach bars and cafes right on the sand. Free sun lounger if you buy food or drinks. The expat community runs most of the nicer spots - French cafes, international food, live music on weekends. You'll see solo travelers reading at Soul Kitchen or The DeckHouse, working on laptops, watching sunset. Nobody cares if you're alone. During the day it's busy with families and travelers, feels safe and social. After 10pm most places close and it gets quiet, so head back to town if you want nightlife. It's a 15-minute bike ride from the Ancient Town on flat roads, or grab a Grab for $2.
