Jurerê Internacional is the island's upscale resort district, with beach clubs, restaurants and visible security. It is pricey and seasonal, but it suits people who put low street crime ahead of a backpacker scene.
Jurerê Internacional is the island's upscale beach resort district in the north, with planned streets, high-end hotels, beach clubs and a lot of private security. It is clean and walkable, and has the lowest street crime of the districts here. Beach clubs by day turn into dressy nightlife in high season, and many venues stay open late. Prices are higher than elsewhere on the island, and the crowd is more party and resort than backpacker. Even here, avoid walking alone late at night, keep to busy streets near venues and use Uber or 99 for the ride back. The area is quieter and many venues close in the cooler months.
