Details

Usaquén feels like stepping into a small colonial town that somehow got absorbed by the big city. The cobblestone streets around the central plaza create this village atmosphere, especially on Sundays when the famous market takes over with 200+ vendors selling crafts, jewelry, and art. Middle-class Colombian families make this their weekend destination, and you'll hear a mix of English and Spanish since it's popular with the expat community. The restaurants around the plaza welcome solo diners - lots of people come here alone to spend a leisurely Sunday reading over brunch. It's safe to walk around at any time, with families strolling in the evenings and good street lighting. The downside is that you're pretty far from the rest of Bogotá, so you'll need to take taxis or Uber to get to other neighborhoods. But if you want a peaceful break from the big city energy, it's perfect.
