Summary

Zona Rosa is the expensive nightlife district where you'll pay tourist prices but feel safer than in most of Bogotá. It's very commercial and not particularly Colombian in feel, but if safety is your main concern for going out at night, this is your best bet.

Details

Zona Rosa is the expensive part of town where business people take their clients and tourists celebrate special occasions. The area gets its name from the T-shaped intersection at its center, and you'll notice private security guards on practically every corner after dark. You'll pay tourist prices for everything here, but the trade-off is feeling genuinely safe walking around even late at night. The crowd is mostly well-dressed locals who can afford $15 cocktails, business travelers, and expats living in Bogotá. All the restaurant and bar staff speak English since they cater to international customers. Solo dining is completely normal at the upscale places, and you'll often see other women eating alone. The area stays busy until 2am on weekends with good lighting and constant security presence, though it definitely feels more like an upscale district in any major city than authentically Colombian.
