Cali, Colombia
10 uncomfortable travel moments most of us run into at some point. Our guide shows you exactly how to respond to each one, so you never blank when it matters. Used by women from 50+ countries.
Wealthy residential suburb. Very safe but far from tourist areas and cultural attractions. Good for prioritizing safety, bad for experiencing Cali.
Ciudad Jardín is where wealthy locals live - mansions behind security gates, manicured lawns, expensive cars. It feels more like suburban Miami than Colombia. The area is very safe day and night with private security, good lighting, and almost no street crime. There are upscale restaurants, some cocktail bars, and Jardín Plaza shopping mall with chain stores. The problem is distance. You're far from what most people come to Cali for - the historic areas, salsa schools, street life, other travelers. It's a 20-30 minute Uber to San Antonio depending on traffic. The residential streets are empty at night because everyone is inside their gated homes. No hostels, no budget restaurants, not much reason to stay here unless you specifically want maximum security and don't mind spending a lot of time in Ubers. It works for older travelers or families prioritizing safety. But if you want the cultural experience and social scene, you'll feel isolated here.
