Cali, Colombia
10 uncomfortable travel moments most of us run into at some point. Our guide shows you exactly how to respond to each one, so you never blank when it matters. Used by women from 50+ countries.
Upscale area with rooftop bars and restaurants. Higher prices but better security than most of Cali. Safest option for going out at night.
Granada is the upscale dining and nightlife area in north Cali along Avenida 6. You'll pay tourist prices but there's better security than other parts of the city. During the day it's quiet - mostly office buildings and residential streets. At night it fills up with locals celebrating special occasions and business dinners. Rooftop bars have city views and cocktails run $8-15 USD. Restaurants range from Italian to Colombian with modern updates. Staff generally speak English since they cater to international visitors and wealthy locals. You'll see other women eating alone at the nicer places. Police patrol regularly and venues have private security, which makes it safer at night than most Cali neighborhoods. The crowd is well-dressed locals in their late 20s-40s, expats, and business travelers. It doesn't feel very Colombian - more like an upscale district in any city. If safety while going out at night is your main concern, Granada works. The tradeoff is you're far from the historic areas and budget scenes, so you'll need Uber to get around.
