Details

Pirita is Tallinn's beach area, 6km from the city center on the Baltic Sea coast. The two-kilometer beach is the city's biggest, busy in summer with people swimming, playing volleyball, and using the waterfront cafes. There's also the Pirita River valley, pine forest, and an adventure park. In summer the beach gets crowded with sunbathers, cafes serving various food, and water sports at the marina. Restaurant Regatta does seafood and Estonian food with sea views. The promenade is good for walking, jogging, or cycling. It's safe during the day with families and tourists around, but quiets down in the evenings when people go back to the city. Main issue is distance - you need a bus or taxi to get here, and there's not much nightlife. This is a daytime beach spot, not an evening destination. In winter it's mostly empty but okay for coastal walks.
