Berlin, Germany
Quiet, family-friendly area with excellent cafes and the popular Mauerpark flea market. Very safe but pricier and less authentically 'Berlin' than other districts.
Prenzlauer Berg is where all the young families with money live - you'll see lots of parents pushing expensive strollers and people having long brunches on weekends. The Sunday flea market at Mauerpark gets packed with locals and tourists, plus there's this karaoke thing that draws huge crowds. Around Kollwitzplatz you'll find cafes full of people reading books and working on laptops, so eating alone feels totally normal. The whole area is well-lit with clean streets and you'll see police around, making it one of the safest neighborhoods for walking at night. All the families mean there are always people around, which creates natural security. Most people speak English and are helpful if you need directions. It's definitely gentrified and can feel a bit sanitized compared to grittier parts of Berlin, but very safe and comfortable.
