Details

The main commercial area with most of the hotels, restaurants, and cafes clustered along Boulevard Morazán. Several embassies are here along with wealthy residential blocks, which means lots of security - both official police and private guards. During the day you'll see business people getting coffee, expats meeting for lunch, tourists checking out restaurants. Eating alone is normal since the area caters to business travelers. Most restaurant and hotel staff speak English since they're used to international visitors. The Plaza San Martín area feels particularly secure with its small park, hotels, and outdoor cafes. After dark, stay on the main streets like Boulevard Morazán where restaurants and bars are still active. The residential side streets empty out and security thins. Take taxis for any evening movement, even if it seems like a short walk. This is one of the safer parts of Tegucigalpa, but you still need to stay alert.

Business district with upscale hotels, malls, and offices. Lots of private security and gated areas make it relatively safe, but there's nothing culturally interesting here.

The safest and most expensive part of Tegucigalpa. Embassies, private security, and better restaurants than elsewhere in the city. You'll pay extra for everything, but it's the most secure option if you're staying here.
