Tegucigalpa, Honduras
The safest and most expensive part of Tegucigalpa. Embassies, private security, and better restaurants than elsewhere in the city. You'll pay extra for everything, but it's the most secure option if you're staying here.
This is the most upscale part of Tegucigalpa, full of embassies and tree-lined streets that almost feel European. Around Plaza San Martín you'll find outdoor cafes where you can sit without feeling constantly on edge - rare for this city. Private security guards are posted everywhere, and you'll see diplomats, expats, and well-dressed locals heading to meetings or restaurants. Staff speak English more often here since they're used to international visitors. The area has decent street lighting and security at night, though you should still taxi anywhere after dark rather than walk. Restaurants range from Palestinian food at Marjaba Café to steakhouses like Restaurante Donde Mikel. Everything costs more here - you're paying for the security as much as the food. If you're prioritizing safety above everything else in Tegucigalpa, stay in this neighborhood.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
The hotel and restaurant hub with embassy security nearby. One of the safer parts of the city, especially during the day. Good dining options and English-speaking staff make it easier for visitors.
Business district with upscale hotels, malls, and offices. Lots of private security and gated areas make it relatively safe, but there's nothing culturally interesting here.
Mountain area outside the city with restaurants that have good views. Gateway to La Tigra National Park. Daytime lunch destination only - arrange hotel transport both ways and get back before dark.
