Details

Altinho Hill is an upscale residential area on higher ground with views over the city and river. The Archbishop's Palace, Chief Minister's residence, and Bishop's Palace are all here, which means good security. Old houses line tree-covered streets, and there's a park (Jogger's Park) with views. It's quiet and well-lit. There's not much to do here - no real nightlife or tourist spots. Walking around shows you colonial architecture and how wealthy locals live. Not many restaurants or cafes - Cafe Tato near Municipal Garden does Goan breakfast, and Joseph Bar serves burgers and drinks. For more dining options you need to go down to central Panaji or Fontainhas. It's safe and quiet, but not where you'd stay if you want to be near restaurants and activities.
