Strong expat community and lots of coworking cafes like The Hive and Crate. Surf schools everywhere for beginners and experienced surfers. Beach clubs (La Brisa, Old Man's) get packed at sunset with a young crowd. Nightlife is active - stick to established places, don't leave drinks alone, take Grab home at night instead of walking. Everyone speaks English. The downside is it feels Western - could be any digital nomad beach town. You've got budget hostels to nice villas, easy to meet people.
