Details

Ubud is in the jungle about 35 miles north of Denpasar - rice terraces, yoga studios, art galleries. This is the wellness reset destination: yoga, smoothie bowls, meditation, traditional dance performances. Town center is walkable and safe during the day. Cafes full of people on laptops or reading. Great vegetarian and vegan food (Alchemy, Sari Organik). Arya Wellness is a female-only hostel. Grab and Gojek don't work well here, so you'll need private drivers or rent a scooter. Monkey Forest is a main attraction but the monkeys can be aggressive - leave food and shiny stuff behind. Town closes early, most places shut by 10pm. Safe to walk main areas at night but lighting is poor and pavement is uneven.
