Historic sites, green space, and pedestrian streets with cafes and nightlife. Safe during day and early evening. Be more careful in nightlife venues late at night.
Centers on 28 Panfilov Guardsmen Park with its wooden Holy Ascension Cathedral (Zenkov Cathedral), one of the few Tsarist-era buildings left. Coffee Boom has outdoor seating near the park. The pedestrian Arbat Street runs nearby with cafes, art vendors, and street musicians going 24/7. Gets lively in evenings when people stroll between cafes, restaurants, and shops. The nightlife zone around Panfilov and Gogol streets picks up on weekends, quieter on weekdays. Bar Chukotka does karaoke and DJ events near the park. Safe during the day with families and tourists around, evening safety is good on main streets with lighting and police. But there are reports of drink spiking and petty theft in some nightclub areas - stick to known venues and watch your drinks. Good mix of historical park, cultural sites, and modern cafes for daytime.
