Nairobi, Kenya
Secure residential area with diplomatic presence. Limited attractions - mainly relevant as a safe place to stay or for dining at places like Lord Erroll. You'll Uber everywhere from here.
Diplomats, politicians, and wealthy Kenyans live here in gated estates north of the city. Very secure because of all the diplomatic residences. Mostly residential without tourist stuff, but close to Village Market. The Lord Erroll (French, award-winning) and Willow Garden Bistro are the dining highlights. Runda Mall is developing on Kiambu Road, and Wadi Degla club has swimming, tennis, and spa. As a tourist, you'd mainly consider this as a safe base or to eat at specific restaurants. Nice for daytime walks on leafy streets with jogging paths, but you'll Uber anywhere else.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Exclusive old-money area with top security but little for visitors. Mainly relevant if you're staying at a luxury hotel here or know residents. Karura Forest and Village Market nearby are the actual attractions.
Maximum security thanks to UN and embassy presence. Village Market mall and Karura Forest are the main draws. It's expensive and feels more like an international zone than Kenya. Choose this if safety trumps authenticity.
Peaceful, upscale suburb with major wildlife attractions nearby. One of the safest areas in Nairobi but far from downtown. You'll depend on Ubers to get anywhere, which adds up. Worth it if you prioritize safety and quiet over being near the action.
