Casablanca, Morocco
The most affluent area with luxury hotels, upscale restaurants, and the best safety. Expensive and lacks local character, but if you prioritize security and comfort over cultural authenticity, it delivers.
Anfa is where wealthy Moroccans and expats live - tree-lined streets with luxury villas, high-end boutiques, and expensive restaurants. The area around Anfa Place shopping center and Boulevard d'Anfa has restaurants ranging from Moroccan at La Sqala to health-focused at Organic Kitchen. Walking feels safe even after dark with good lighting, private security at buildings, and maintained sidewalks. You'll see women jogging alone in evenings and dining solo at upscale places. Close enough to walk to the Corniche for ocean access. Restaurant and shop staff usually speak English since they serve international clients. Everything costs more here than other neighborhoods, and it can feel sterile and disconnected from actual Moroccan culture. But if your priorities are safety and comfort, Anfa works. Gets quiet after 10pm when people go inside, though the security presence stays strong.
