Details

Green Point sits between Sea Point and the V&A Waterfront, which makes it a convenient base. De Waterkant, the colorful neighborhood within Green Point, is Cape Town's LGBTQ+ area - rainbow crosswalks at Somerset and Dixon streets (the only ones in Africa), gay bars, inclusive cafes and restaurants. Café Manhattan has been around for decades serving the community. Crew Bar and Honey & Dora do drag brunches and queer events. The area has a cosmopolitan, welcoming atmosphere. Main Road through Green Point has good restaurants - Italian, Japanese, various options, some open late. The Green Point Stadium area stays fairly busy, and you can walk to the V&A Waterfront. Standard Cape Town safety rules still apply though - even though De Waterkant feels safer than some areas, take an Uber home after dark instead of walking. The MyCiTi bus runs during the day.
