Residential lakefront area with parks, the Rietberg Museum, and lake access. Very safe and quiet. Limited nightlife. Good if you want to be near the center without tourist crowds and can afford the prices.
Enge sits on the western shore of Lake Zurich south of the Old Town. Tree-lined residential streets, lakefront parks, botanical gardens. Affluent and quiet despite being close to the center. Families at the Rietberg Museum, joggers around the lake, locals swimming from decks in summer. Upscale restaurants with traditional Swiss and international food, many with terraces over the water. People eat alone here - business lunches, residents with coffee. Slower pace than Old Town or Zürich West. Well-maintained, good lighting, feels safe. English works at restaurants though it's more local than touristy. Close to central Zurich without the crowds but you'll pay for it.

The historic old town with medieval architecture and cultural sites. Very safe and walkable, prices reflect the tourist location. Good starting point if you want central Zurich with easy access to everything.
Converted industrial area with art galleries, fusion restaurants, and cafes. Younger and more casual than central Zurich. Safe, not centrally located but accessible by tram.
