Phuket, Thailand
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Phuket.
Quiet and family-oriented, away from tourist crowds but still has beach and basic stuff. Safe but not much nightlife or restaurant variety. Good for relaxing, not socializing.
Kamala is between Patong and Bang Tao. Quieter than Patong without being totally isolated. The beach is less developed with a local village feel on the main street. Restaurants have Thai and international food, cheaper than Patong, everything moves slower. Families walking around in the evenings, locals doing their thing. Café del Mar Phuket adds some upscale beach club energy. English works in tourist places but not everywhere like Patong. Beach is good for swimming in high season - calm water, soft sand. Almost no nightlife - some beachfront bars and restaurants, no party scene. Fine if you want quiet and still want food options and beach access. Fewer restaurants and harder to meet other travelers. You'll need Grab to get to other beaches or Old Town - Kamala feels separate from the rest of the island. Basically a quiet beach town where you can actually relax.
