Phuket, Thailand
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Phuket.
Quiet and family-oriented with a long beach. Safe but limited nightlife and restaurants. Good for relaxing, not for socializing.
Karon has the longest beach on Phuket with clear water and gentle waves. Less crowded than Kata. Mostly families and couples looking for quiet without being too isolated. The main road has hotels, restaurants with Thai and international food, massage shops, and convenience stores. More spread out than Patong - you'll walk farther or need tuk-tuks between places. The beach is nice with room to spread out. Eating alone is fine but there are fewer restaurants and they're more family-focused than Kata or Patong. English works in tourist spots. Safe during the day and evening, well-lit streets, police around. Almost no nightlife - some beachfront bars and hotel restaurants, no clubs. Good if you want quiet evenings, boring if you want to meet people. Less restaurant variety and fewer travelers than busier areas.
