Phuket, Thailand
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Phuket.
Middle ground between Patong's party scene and quieter beaches. Good beach for swimming, decent restaurants, low-key nightlife. Less intense than Patong but still has what you need.
Kata has beach access and infrastructure without Patong's chaos. The main beach has soft sand and good swimming. Kata Noi to the south is quieter. More families and couples here than party crowds. Nightlife exists but it's low-key - beachfront bars with live music, not clubs. Lots of people eat alone, work in cafes, read at brunch - nobody cares. The hill between Kata and Kata Noi has sunset spots and pricier restaurants with ocean views. English is common in tourist spots. Kata Road has 7-Elevens, massage shops, tour places, restaurants from cheap Thai to expensive. You can walk around Kata but need Grab to get to other beaches or Old Town. Less variety than Patong - fewer restaurants and shops, quieter at night. But that's why some people prefer it.
