Antalya, Turkey
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Antalya.
Kaleiçi is Antalya's old town with Roman and Ottoman sites, cobblestone streets, and a harbor. Heavy tourist police presence makes it feel safe, though you'll pay tourist prices and deal with persistent shop vendors. Works well as a base if you want everything walkable and don't mind the touristy atmosphere.
Kaleiçi is Antalya's old town - narrow cobblestone streets with Ottoman-era houses converted into boutique hotels, cafes, and restaurants. The ancient harbor sits in the middle, surrounded by Roman walls and gates including Hadrian's Gate from 130 CE. During the day it's packed with tour groups, street vendors selling pomegranate juice, and tourists taking photos at the marina. CCTV cameras are everywhere and tourist police patrol regularly, so it feels safe walking around. Restaurant staff are used to international visitors and solo diners are common - people sit alone reading or working on laptops without issue. Most places speak English since tourism drives the economy here. The atmosphere changes at night when day-trippers leave - some streets get quiet and poorly lit, though the main areas around the harbor and Hadrian's Gate stay busy until midnight. Shop vendors sometimes make comments trying to get you into their stores, but it stops if you keep walking. The whole area is walkable with comfortable shoes (the cobblestones matter). Plan at least a full day to explore the sites, browse shops, and watch sunset from the harbor.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Konyaaltı is where locals and tourists mix along a 7km pebble beach promenade. Good for authentic local atmosphere with decent nightlife, specialty coffee, and safe evening walks. More character than resort areas but less English spoken.
Lara Beach is the resort hotel area with sandy beaches and themed hotels. Safe and family-oriented, but cut off from local culture and real nightlife. Makes sense if you want a beach vacation with occasional trips to the city, not if you want to experience Turkish culture.
