Antalya, Turkey
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Antalya.
Konyaaltı is where locals and tourists mix along a 7km pebble beach promenade. Good for authentic local atmosphere with decent nightlife, specialty coffee, and safe evening walks. More character than resort areas but less English spoken.
Konyaaltı stretches 7 kilometers along Antalya's western coast where locals and tourists mix more than in resort-heavy Lara. The beach is pebbles (not sand), backed by a wide boulevard with cafes, restaurants, and bars busy from morning coffee through late-night drinks. Unlike Lara's resort setup, Konyaaltı feels more Turkish - local families picnic on weekends, young professionals meet for after-work drinks, university students hang out at beach clubs. It gives you chances to experience local life while still feeling safe in a well-lit, busy area. The eastern end near Beach Park is the party zone with clubs and late-night energy. The western stretch toward the mountains is quieter and more family-focused. The promenade works well for evening walks with the Taurus Mountains behind it. You'll see women jogging or walking alone even after dark. English is less common here than in Kaleiçi or Lara, but restaurant staff in tourist areas manage okay. Solo dining feels normal at beachfront cafes where people work on laptops or read alone. The specialty coffee scene is solid with places like The Sudd and Hayy Coffee drawing locals and travelers. For nightlife, Konyaaltı is middle ground - not as dead as Lara resorts but not as intense as Antalya's biggest clubs. The area is safe with regular police patrols, though stick to the lit promenade instead of dark side streets late at night.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Lara Beach is the resort hotel area with sandy beaches and themed hotels. Safe and family-oriented, but cut off from local culture and real nightlife. Makes sense if you want a beach vacation with occasional trips to the city, not if you want to experience Turkish culture.
Kaleiçi is Antalya's old town with Roman and Ottoman sites, cobblestone streets, and a harbor. Heavy tourist police presence makes it feel safe, though you'll pay tourist prices and deal with persistent shop vendors. Works well as a base if you want everything walkable and don't mind the touristy atmosphere.
