Antalya, Turkey
What 90% of solo women don't know about staying safe in Antalya.
Lara Beach is the resort hotel area with sandy beaches and themed hotels. Safe and family-oriented, but cut off from local culture and real nightlife. Makes sense if you want a beach vacation with occasional trips to the city, not if you want to experience Turkish culture.
Lara Beach is the resort hotel zone - kilometers of golden sand (not pebbles like Konyaaltı) lined with massive themed hotels that look like castles and palaces. Families and couples come here for all-inclusive beach vacations, creating a resort atmosphere that's quite different from the old town. The beach has Blue Flag status for clean water with gentle waves for swimming. It feels safe but isolated unless you're staying at one of the big hotels - most nightlife happens inside hotel complexes, not at standalone bars. The area caters to Russian and European package tourists, so English is common in hotels and restaurants. During the day the beach is busy with families, evenings have couples walking the promenade. For actual nightlife, most people go back to Antalya city center. Beach clubs like Porto Beach Bar offer sunset drinks and music. Solo dining works at hotel restaurants and a few places near TerraCity mall, though you might feel out of place surrounded by couples and families. This area makes sense if you want a beach vacation with day trips to the old town (20-minute taxi), not if you want to be in the middle of Antalya's cultural scene.

Areas with comparable safety profiles for solo female travelers
Konyaaltı is where locals and tourists mix along a 7km pebble beach promenade. Good for authentic local atmosphere with decent nightlife, specialty coffee, and safe evening walks. More character than resort areas but less English spoken.
Kaleiçi is Antalya's old town with Roman and Ottoman sites, cobblestone streets, and a harbor. Heavy tourist police presence makes it feel safe, though you'll pay tourist prices and deal with persistent shop vendors. Works well as a base if you want everything walkable and don't mind the touristy atmosphere.
