Details

Bugolobi is quiet residential during the day - tree-lined streets, gated compounds, not much happening. After dark it transforms into a nightlife area with bars, restaurants, and live music venues that draw a mixed crowd of locals and expats. Everything from cheap beer joints to nicer lounges. Jazz Ville and similar spots host live music from local musicians. Security comes from private guards at venues rather than police patrols, which makes it safer than Kabalagala but you still need taxis after dark. People eat and drink alone here to catch live music, so it works for solo travelers. Most entertainment venues have staff who speak English. Close to Kololo and has some coffee shops like Endiro. Less polished than the diplomatic areas, more of a real Kampala vibe.
