Details

Between Waikiki and Downtown, Ala Moana is built around the huge open-air Ala Moana Center, one of the largest shopping centers in the country, and the oceanfront Ala Moana Beach Park. The mall has plenty of places to eat alone, from food courts to sit-down restaurants, the beach park is where locals swim and walk at sunset, and TheBus has a major hub here. The area is generally safe and busy by day and early evening. Once the mall closes the streets empty out quickly, and the beach park is best avoided alone after dark. With condo towers and quiet residential blocks there's little to do late, so most visitors stay in Waikiki and come here during the day.
