Romanian and Russian are the main languages in Moldova. English is spoken in most hotels, tourist restaurants, and by some younger people, but communication can be challenging outside tourist areas. The emergency service (112) has English-speaking operators available. Tourist Information Center staff speak English and can assist with translation or emergencies. Having Google Translate or a translation app is highly recommended.

Explore the different areas of Chișinău and find the perfect neighborhood for your stay.
This is the safest and most convenient area in Chisinau. Best infrastructure, most English speakers, stays busy into the evening. Everything's walkable, though prices are higher than residential neighborhoods.
Local residential area with a botanical garden and cheap food. Not safe at night. Go during the day or stay here only if you're on a tight budget and will taxi to the center for evenings.
Residential area with Valea Morilor Park (worth visiting during the day). Cheap accommodation but unsafe at night and nobody speaks English. Go for the park or stay here on a budget if you'll taxi downtown for evenings.
Shopping district with malls and services. Safer than outer neighborhoods, cheaper than downtown, but no character or tourist sites. Practical if you want convenience without paying city center prices.
